It’s Friday and I’m exhausted. I’ve been working the overnight shift at work all week and have one more day to go. I was thinking about what to write about and decided to finally write an article I’ve been kicking around for maybe a year. The article is one on hope, a hard thing to find these day’s. So stick with me and I hope you catch some of mine today.
Millennials
The generation getting ready to inherit the planet in the next several years fall into the millennials generation. I was shocked when I found out that I was not part of Generation X but was myself a millennial. The dates seem to be a bit sketchy as Wikipedia says:
“Millennials (also known as the Millennial Generation[1] or Generation Y) are the demographic cohort following Generation X. There are no precise dates when the generation starts and ends. Researchers and commentators use birth years ranging from the early 1980s to the early 2000s.”
I feel that’s a big gap for us born in the early 80’s (1982 for me) to be lumped in with someone born in Y2k. I certainly am not tea cup nor are many of my friends. They are out there though. In hordes. Fragile, weak, hardly worthy of the heritage of mankind. Frightened of challenges and hard work. I’ve met many though that have broke the mold and reclaimed their true and powerful nature.
Rise Of The Dooer’s
In my travels I have met some amazing young people doing amazing things. Many are starting to wake up that shit is seriously broken in this world. Politicians are not going to fix your problems. If you want change you will not get it by bitching and protesting. They go out into the world and do what they have to. At a primitive skills gathering I met some switched on youth’s with skills I wish I had at their age. They were teaching and experienced in many skills. I’ve seen at the Pathfinder gathering kids and young adults eating up survival skills. YouTube is packed with them honing their crafts and teaching it. The tiny house movement is fueled by the young sick of insane mortgages. Permaculture is overflowing with amazing young men and women.
Tea Cups and Tankards
So yes my generation might have scores of fragile tea cups. When SHTF many wont make it for sure. The mess that we are being saddled on us from previous generations though is forging many into strong survivors. No complaining about the mess only a desire to go make things better without asking for permission. By God things will be better when we are done and the next generation takes the reigns. Let the collapse come we got this.
