Bugging Out VS Bugging In

This week we tackle the ages old debate in the Prepper community. Bugging in vs bugging out. Which one is better? Like many things that depends. We try to tackle some of the instances but you will have to think for yourself.

Many are tied to one or the other. They are staying no matter what. Hurricanes, tornados and toxic waste spills wont deter them. The same could be said for those beneath Mt Vesuvius. If they had warning that is.

Others only focus on the bug out. They have built the ultimate Bug out bag and are ready to go in a second. Sure that bag now weighs a ton and you have no walked a mile in over a decade.

Today we try to break these convictions. Do not be tied to either. Be prepared for both. decide what to do based on the situation.

This week we talk all about blackouts. With the recent storms and blackouts I thought we should talk prepping for the power going out.

We cover batteries for storage. My hierarchy of batteries. With rechargeables being the first line of defense. Eneloop being the best rechargeables you can get. With Energizer Lithium as your reliable emergency batteries. Lastly always stock up on cheap junk batteries. Use them if your rechargeables are not charged and it’s not an emergency. Remember two is one and one is none.

We cover flashlights, candles, battery backups and much more.

Survival Shelters

This week we talk about Survival Shelters. I started watching some Youtube videos from an Australian guy. In one he quickly makes a semi permanent shelter using the wattle and daub method. In the video he uses only primitive tools. He uses stone axes and vines. Makes the clay pot to carry water to make the mud for the walls.

Mike and I discuss several survival shelters you can make. Some can be used for long term survival. I talk about how I would not mind living in a primitive hut made from wattle and daub.
