Happy Holidays From Survivalpunk

I was going to write a normal post for today. At the last minute though I decided we both have better things to do. Whatever you believe in, Christmas, Chaunaka, Kwanzaa or something you’ve made up yourself. Enjoy spending the day with your loved ones. Enjoy the seeing the look on their faces when you give them a wonderful gift. Smile with delight at what you receive. Most importantly though enjoy the time spent with those you care most about. That above gifts if what makes this a great day. A day to pause and relax with family and friends and reflect on the passage of another year. Toast to the coming year and build those relationships even stronger. Enjoy the day I’ll be back tomorrow with something good!

How was your Christmas? What did you get and more importantly what did you give!? Let me know in the comments!

Gun Control and Shopping Sprees!

The news is full of gun control talk right now in the aftermath of the newest shooting. Facebook has been awash with pro and anti gun sentiments. It seems that there is a ton of support for legislature to ban “assault weapons”, limit magazine capacities and basically disarm the citizenry. In the wake of all this gun and magazine sales have gone through the roof. Price gouging is rampant on the internet. Even sadder many gun companies are giving in to the pressure. Today I going to give you my opinion on these issues. Warning I may snap out and use bad language.

I hate when people use tragedy for gain. I did not want to use this to push an agenda. In the end it was the people that are doing that that has prompted me to write this. Let me share my thoughts on this horrible shooting.

13 in Thirteen: No pain no Gain!

I know a lot of you are listeners to The Survival Podcast. As such I’m sure you may have heard about the new project Jack’s launching, his 13 in Thirteen skills challenge at 13Skills.com. For those of you who have not heard about this the basic premise is for people to learn/ master at least 13 new skills in the year 13. Of course it does not need to end with 2014 and really learning 13 new skills a year is a good number. Although I’ve been slow to sign up I knew when I first heard about this project I would be getting involved. To be honest I planed a personal version of something like this anyway this was just more concrete and has a sexy site to track your progress and brag with friends about. Let me tell you why I think this is a great idea, what I plan on learning this year and why you need to get your ass involved and learn a new skill or 13.
