Survivalists and preppers sure love their acronyms. B.O.B’s, G.H.B.’s, B.O.V’s and B.O.L’s are a few that come to mind. In the spirit of Bug Out acronyms I’m going to coin, and i searched to see if anyone else had, a new one. Bug Out Games, B.O.G’s. I’ve been thinking about not just bug outs but Bug In’s, disasters, power outages and whatnot. Disasters can be boring! Sure there is a lot to do but there will still be downtime and you will not have the normal comforts you’re used to. The tried and true entertainment most seem to carry in their B.O.B’s seems to be one deck of cards to play solitaire. I don’t think that’s the best choice though. For one It assumes you will be alone, a bad idea in any of the situations I described. Secondly as much as I enjoy a game of solitaire it can get repetitive. So what are a few of my choices for B.O.G’s?

Stomach Virus Woes
Today will be a quick update, mostly to let everyone know I am alive and didn’t want to miss another day without writing something. I also gained some insight I want to share. Mostly though I think of all of you as my friends and friends whine to each other when they are sick. Tuesday morning after leaving from getting a hair cut I was heading home as fast as I could. I needed to get into the bathroom. I had felt fine until partway into getting a haircut and then my stomach started rumbling and churning. I paid and ran out the door dove into my car and sped away. I was thinking maybe it was a fluke and started getting ready for bed since I had plans for the night. A local Irish pub was going to have Guinness girls there with freebies and samples. Free Guinness, ’nuff said I was excited. Unfortunately my bathroom trip was not a fluke and there would be no free Guinness for me.
Bit’s and Bobs from around the Web
For today’s post I’m going to do something a little different and share some articles I’ve read recently. I’ll link to them and share my thoughts on them here. Hopefully you guys will find some interesting articles you would not have seen otherwise. I stumble across some interesting things in my internet travels so here are some of the best articles I’ve come across this week. If you have a story or question send it to me at James@survivalpunk and I’ll take a look and answer it on the blog. Now let’s get down to what I’ve been reading.
Gun Prices and Ammo Shortages
After a few interactions last night, some observation and some quick “googling” to confirm, I think It’s time for a good old fashioned rant. Expect there to be some potty mouth language used. It is called for in this case. Some of my rage is from misinformation and some is for overreacting. Most though is aimed directly at those that use tragedy to cause more tragedy. I hope your in the mood for a rant cause that’s what you have in store. Now lets get down to the bitching.
Happy New Year and Setting Goals and Measuring Success
Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had an amazing 2012 and an even better year in 2013. Obviously we proved all the Mayans wrong with our continued existence. Even though Obama won re-election the streets were not filled with blood and life more or less continued just the way it has. I’m not a psychic so I won’t bother making predictions for the coming year with the exceptions that things will continue to get more expensive, you’ll still have to pay taxes and death won’t be cured. The world will continue so cheer up and lets enjoy our time on this rock. Personally I intend to make 2013 my best year yet. Now lets get down to the real subject of today’s post and that is setting goals for the new year and measuring the success of last year. To do this I’ll share some of my goals for the upcoming year and my success and failures of the last.
