Yesterday I got my R.E.I dividend check and it reminded me how much I love that store. For those that don’t know Rei is a sporting goods store with a focus on camping equipment and clothes. What separates Rei from the other stores out there is that it is a co-op and return the majority of profits to their members through annual member refunds based on their purchases. I just got back a $40 check for gear that I bought from there throughout the year. Let me tell you why I love being a member and why you should consider it.

Survivalpunk turns One Year Old And You Get The Gifts!

Last year on March 16th I published the first article on Survivalpunk. It all began with me showing you how to make Sauerkraut cheap and easy and I’ve been going strong since then. This marks the 238th post in the year which is just shy of a post every weekday of the year. The site has grown more than I would have believed in this year. I’ve made tons of new friends from the site and got to test some great gear. It’s been a great year and I plan on making the next year and the following ones even bigger. Enough babbling time to get down to the read reason for today’s post. Free stuff! I admit that this contest was not super organized. I had the idea to do a big giveaway kinda last minute and started asking for donations at the end of last month. So far I don’t have everything in and that is one of the reasons I’m going to run this contest longer than usual. I’m going to run it for one month. Storing Magazines Loaded vs. Unloaded is one of the great gun debates. At work yesterday night, one of my co-workers gave me the idea of tackling this huge debate for an article. Both sides of the loaded vs. unloaded argument feel very strongly that they are right. There are good reasons for both methods. Today I’m going to share those reasons.Which is better Storing Magazines Loaded vs. Unloaded and then I’ll share what I chose to do. A few weeks ago I was contacted by the guys that run ParaVival and asked me if I would be interested in reviewing one of their bracelets. I love reviewing things and badly needed a new paracord bracelet. My old one was a crappy one from REI and was too thin. Also this gave me an opportunity to get one in the Survivalpunk colors of black and red. Basically wins all around.

I love it when I can come on here and praise a product and a company. Nothing makes me happier than giving my glowing recommendation to a well crafted product. That’s not always the case though, and I will and have happily ripped products a new one when they sucked. Today is a case of the latter. A few months ago I bought a Blackhawk mag carrier. The voice in the back of my head that warns me not to buy shit whispered to me, Dont get it. I ignored that voice and bought it regardless and have since been simmering is my hatred for this product. Yesterday while at the range with some friends James from Skills and gear showed me a sweet inside the waist kydex carrier he recently got (Here). Which just set me off ranting about how much I hate the blackhawk one. Did I mention I hate this thing? Let me count the ways in which this pill of crap sucks.
