Level 1 First Aid Kit
Today I’m going to go over the contents of my Level 1 First Aid kit and why I carry what i do. the philosophy behind this kit is one based on being small and light weight and covering most day-to-day needs. This kit is not meant to be a blow out kit nor to be able to handle traumatic injuries. What is does cover are some of the things that I have had happen most often with a little extras for emergencies.
Kershaw Skyline Review
Up for to is a review of my Kershaw Skyline. The knife features Sandvik 14C28N steel with a bead-blasted finish. The blade length comes in at 3 1/8 in. The weight is 2.3 oz so it’s nice and light. The handle scales are a textured black G10. It features a liner lock , thumb stud, flipper and pocket clip. Which I will discuss in depth. And the icing on the cake is that is Made in the US.
Letherman Wave
Today I’m going to review my Leatherman Wave multi tool. The wave comes with 17 tools built in and 2 screwdriver bits. It weighs in at 8.5 oz. It features all locking blades and tools. A must have on a multi tool. It’s made of stainless steel. A good thing too since mine has gotten wet several times in the field. It comes with a very well built leather sheath. The sheath has to carry option vertical or horizontal. The horizontal mounting is a bit tight though.
Hike!
Just a short post for now will have a real one up later tonight. Had a great hike today at Long Hunter State park With James and Mike from Skills and Gear. I had intended to do some gear testing but the rain made it a short trip. Two lessons learned though. One replace the paracord on the GHB holding the wool blanket with fast tex buckle strapping. The jostling from hiking kept making it come lose. Second add rain pants. The poncho worked awesome. At keeping my upper body dry while dumping water on my pants.
