Up today we have an interview with Jimmy Moore from the Living La Vida Low Carb blog and Podcast. Jimmy has a new book coming out called Keto Clarity. I got in an early for review and it’s great. The book review should be out this week. Jimmy has been in the low carb field for a very long time. Years ago when I first got into Atkins I found his YouTube Channel. He had some great tips and recipes. He was also both passionate and funny. Like Jimmy though I made some slips and put back on the weight. It took a few tips from Jimmy to get it back under control. Keto Clarity has all those tips and more.
Keto Clarity
In Keto Clarity Jimmy breaks down everything you could ever want to know about being ketogenic. The book is filled with science for those that want it. It also explains very easy to understand. The chapters end with breakdown bullet points. It is filled with experts in the medical and low carb world. Jimmy shares some menu foods as well. One thing I always wonder is what people actually eat.

I’ve seen a trend developing recently. A very appalling trend. I laughed it of at first. It kept on happening though. I just want to yell at them to man up. For the past week I have met several weak men. Though they hardly deserve to be called men. Not only in their weakness but laziness. They display no traits of manhood. They are sad disgraces to our cavemen ancestors. They need to learn to man up now while times are good.
Man Up
I was at work one night when a co-worker, Gary, told me about what just happened to him. He said a customer came and asked him for help loading up a fridge. Gary was thinking maybe it was a special deep freezer in stock. Normally we only carry small college fridges. He has him show him over to it. The customer ask if he needs a cart or to get help for it. Gary is bumfuzzled when the customer, a towering man in an under armour sports shirt, needs help with this tiny fridge. It could not have been over 50 pounds. He easily picked it up and placed in their shopping cart. While the customers wife smirked. Ladies if your man can not lift a college fridge You Have a girlfriend. I thought obviously he exaggerated the story. Good one Gary. Yeah OK. Since Hearing that story It happened to me. Twice. And Gary One more time. In a week. A WEEK. Man Up!
When I was asked to help with a fridge I thought It MUST be a big chest freezer. The customer stated I needed a cart. I was like I don’t think we have any too big for the shopping carts. He just looked at me like I was crazy. The customer was an average built man in his early 40’s. I had him point to it and was disappointed. Though it was not one of the small ones it was not big. As in maybe you could hold 2 two liters coke bottles vertically. I picked it up and gently put in his cart. Then helped him carry it out. Hiding my desire to yell at him to man up.
Try It!
None of these “Men” tried to pick it. They immediately went for help. They believed they could not do it. Obviously neither lift weights. They have no strength. Although these fridges were so light they probably could have lifted them up. They did not even bother to try. I think it’s two-fold why. They do not take pride in their strength. I have never bought anything I could not pick up in a store. I have snatched up big futon boxes and put in carts. I have carried out heavy pool tables. I always try to pick it up. If I have something awkward shaped or just that heavy I ask for help. Not someone else to do it. I don’t feel entitled to make someone else do it for me. I want it and if needed I will ask for help. That means that I’m still lifting my half. None of these people even though to do that. Or offered. I doubt that the men of the 50’s would act like that. I know any real man would not. SO I yell it here. Man Up. Since I can’t at work. Please Man up. Your children need you to man up. Your wife wants you to man up. This is James from Survivalpunk saying MAN UP!

I just have some cool things to share with you today. A few projects for this weekend to keep you busy. I know you like projects right. One is a project that goes boom! The other is a cooking one and it’s not paleo. I know some of you are not paleo. You have not yet become enlightened. You say James please share some recipes that are not paleo. I do. Sometimes I share low carb ones. This time it’s neither. So enjoy let’s have a look at how to make Tannerite and a 3,000 calorie ration bar.
Today I have a guest post from Lukas Nicholson. Lukas contacted me about writing a guest post on a subject I hadn’t really thought about. Buggin in with the elderly. I know many of you have parents and grandparents at home with you. Enjoy -James
When SHTF, most of us won’t have a secondary bug out location we can run to and wait out the chaos. In fact, the vast majority of preppers plan to essentially bug in place. That is probably a wise decision. Unless you have a fully stocked location nestled away somewhere out of town that can provide adequate shelter, food, water and security for an extended period of time, you best not plan on “heading for the hills” at the first sign of trouble.
Bugging out becomes even less of an option if you have elderly family or friends to account for. But I would guess that when most people are making plans they are not realistically considering the needs of their elder members. Before continuing, it should be made clear that not all older individuals will need special attention. Many are physically and mentally fit and perfectly capable of taking care of themselves.
But the truth is that many more elderly individuals are quite dependent on modern society for their needs. They may have extreme limitations brought on by maladies like diabetes or debilitating arthritis. They may depend on daily prescription medications to keep them relatively healthy. In our modern society they may get about and function with relative ease, but that shouldn’t bear on our assessment of how they will do when the lights go out permanently and we’re living like we did 150 years ago.
Realistically, there is only so much you can do to ensure the health and safety of the elderly during an extended period of catastrophe. But here are some things to think about and prepare for as best you can.
Bug In at the Older Member’s Home
It may make sense to make your bug out location at the elderly person’s home. If they are supportive of the idea, consider stocking your supplies at their location so when SHTF occurs, they don’t have to travel to meet you. Instead, it would be easier (but still dangerous) for you to bug out to their location.
This is advantageous for several reasons. They will have the comfort of staying in familiar surroundings and have all of their medical needs, such as walkers and other appliances, already in place. Staying in familiar surroundings will help them cope with the fear and may subsequently lessen the resulting depression as they experience the outside world crumble apart. In addition, many elderly are either particular about the food they eat or have health restrictions on the types of food they must have. For these reasons it might be far easier and sensible to plan on weathering the storm at the elderly person’s home.
Secure Your Home
Regardless of where you plan to stay, you must ensure the security of everyone in your party. So instead of focusing energy and resources on a vague plan for bugging out, it would be better to focus your efforts on securing your home for SHTF. Human psychology being what it is, people will still be creatures of opportunity, even under harsh circumstances. If your home is hardened against break-ins, looters and those searching for resources will tend to opt for your less secure neighbor’s home. This is not to say that in time they won’t get around to your home, but by then you will have had adequate time to assess your situation and devise concrete plans for your extended survival.
Lukas Nicholson hails from a family of preppers hardened by numerous Florida hurricanes. He found an outlet for his skills in the security industry, where he has spent the past seven years. He is now interested in sharing his knowledge online, where he writes in association with Topconsumerreviews.com.

Another Mikes guest invite paid off. Glent Tate author of the 299 Days books emailed me about being on the show. He liked my review of the books so much be wanted on. Also as It turns out we have something else in common. Glen drank from the kool aid and joined the cult of crossfit. We both are of the mind that physical fitness is one of the most important preps. I’ll take any chance to spread the word on getting in shape. We do talk about the books a good bit though. I got my co host Mike hooked on the books before this podcast. Mike really got into the swing of things and asked some hard hitting questions. This will be different from any interview with Glen Tate you’ve heard. He all had a great time and covered some important info.We hear about the upcoming audio versions. Glen Tates 299 Days books are the best prepper fiction out there. Go check them out.
