Giving Us All A Bad Name

I’ve met some wonderful people in the survival world since I started Survivalpunk. Loving, caring and giving people. Some of my best friends are part of this community. I wish all the people I come across could be as wonderful. They are not though. Sometime you come across some real pieces. They are bigots and idiots. They blame this group or that one for all the problems. They buy into the party lie. They don’t seek solutions only point fingers. I came across one recently and quickly had to get rid of them. These people only give us all a bad name. They contribute to the image many have of the survival community. We not crazy gun toting racist fear mongers. Guns we have but our hearts and minds are clear. Let the rant commence.

If Only You Had Voted This Way

If you think that the world would be a better place had Mitt Romney won you are wrong. It would be the same. Some of the minor detail might be different. We would still be seeing growth of an ever more tyrannical government. We would still have Obama Care. Which is based on Romney care. Russia would still be provoking a third world war. ISIS would still be causing trouble. We would still be in massive debt. Calling people idiots because they voted this way or that not helping. YOU are playing right into the government’s class warfare. You are not enlightening them. They now will fight you harder than ever.

Giving Us All A Bad Name

Making idiotic uninformed statements makes us all look bad. You are giving us all a bad name when you say bigot and racist remarks. I judge people by their actions. Their character. Not on stereotypes and prejudices. Saying your purging your facebook of liberals is narrow minded. I disagree with you on a few things so I don’t want anything to do with you. Whining and crying cause are different from you. Grow the fuck up. One day going through the Survivapunk twitter feed I noticed a follower was posting about white supremacy and the Aryan race. That got them blocked. That is not a little different. Thais into crazy land. We don’t need them in this community. We are going to need strong communities in a collapse not hatred. The government can keep it’s class warfare. I give my friendship freely. Prove through your actions you don’t deserve it and lose it. I don’t care what political party you belong to or don’t. Either you are good or not.

Gluten Free: A Lifestyle Not A Product

The phrase Gluten Free is popping up all over the supermarket. No longer are they confined in a special area. It is becoming a label to slap on everything. A buzz word. Potato chips are labeled gluten free. Well no shit they are gluten free. Potatoes don’t have any gluten in them. It’s like saying the sky is free of flying monkeys. Yes gluten is bad. I’ve covered it before. So if gluten is bad, gluten free is good. This is a logical fallacy. Just because something is free of gluten does not mean it is good. Today I’ll cover some of the reason why this is.

Foods Without Gluten

Gluten is found in grains such as wheat, barley, rye and triticale (a cross between wheat and rye). It is added to some random foods as well. Oats for example get contaminated from being processed in the same factories. So out of an endless amount of foods only a handful contain gluten. This is the reason I don’t feel being gluten free is a hard choice. I’m not celiac so I don’t have severe reactions. I know some sauces at restaurants could be contaminated so I avoid them when possible. By sticking to a basic paleo, unprocessed diet you are gluten free. No meat, Veggies, Fruit or nuts have gluten.

Gluten Free

The store is filled with gluten free products now. I’d say 80% of it s complete garbage. Rice Krispies are gluten free. Potato chips are gluten free. These foods are certainly not healthy choices. They are now being labeled Gluten free. The other big issue is in items that would normally have gluten in it. Things like gluten free pretzels and crackers. You would think that making then without gluten would be a good thing. It is not though. By removing the gluten containing ingredients they are forced to add something. That something is usually a lot of somethings and mostly chemicals. Many times the replacements are not much better for you. It is an out of the skillet and into the fire situation. I always flip over gluten free products to read the ingredients. It’s a weird hobby of mine. You will find some crazy ingredients.

Just Eat Healthy

Stop going out of your way to justify eating bad. Stop trying to mimic your old ways of eating that was bad. I don’t miss making a sandwich. I don’t need paleo bread. I have made it. Maybe a couple times a year. You can live without crackers. You are comfortable with certain things and look for them to be gluten free. With so so many food choices why get hung up on a few. Go try something new.

Purge Happening For Real

Today’s post will be a short one. I’m exhausted after recording back to back podcasts last night. Today’s even busier and I’m writing this on my phone. I just wanted to open a discussion on this purge idea going around on social media. I first saw about this on Facebook about purge Louisville. The details on it were limited. I’m still not sure what’s real and what’s hoax. It’s definitely something to keep an eye on though. So let’s get to it.

Dealing With Waste During A Disaster

Conflicted

Join James and Mike along with special guest Mikes Wife as they play an entire game of conflicted the game. I thought it would be great to not just do a card but an entire game. We play through several rounds and determine a winner. We read some really great, thought provoking cards. Most of all we had a great time. Also on the show we talk about the crossfit games and the winners. Which is a few weeks old at this point. James talks about the Serval App for phones. It allows text and phone calls without phone service. I used it on a phone with no sim card and made a call. More testing on it in the future. I was looking at some off grid communication without buying extra hardware. Mesh technology could be the answer. We talk about the give Mike a nickname contest that is still going on.
