I’ve seen a few of the other Survival blogs put out some Christmas gift posts. I thought about doing one of similar items with amazon links. The more I thought about it though I decided that was not punk. I wanted to find small companies with unusual items. Granted some items are available on Amazon and if you buy it from there I make a few pennies that I use to buy gear for review.
I had a hard time finding great new survival products. I asked around and was told about a few. I searched on Kickstarter for more. Also things that I want or like are listed
I saw recently that Paul Wheatons Permaculture playing cards have been updated. I never got around to doing a proper review before. Time to rectify that. If you have happened to listen to our earlier podcasts you will know that we used to read one permaculture playing card. Couch Potato Mikes organizing system failed though.
I’m sure all of you know what permaculture is right? No? Google defines it as such:
per·ma·cul·ture
ˈpərməˌkəlCHər/
noun
the development of agricultural ecosystems intended to be sustainable and self-sufficient.
Which is a wholly lacking term. Geoff Lawton defines it as a design science. Learning permaculture allows you to design systems, like garden, in a more holistic way. I’m a permaculture fan more so than an expert. Getting a deck actually taught me a lot.
Today Mike and I are joined by Travis from eBugout. You may be asking what is ebugout and why do I need it. eBugout was founded on the idea of helping others become prepared without the time consuming task of tracking down quality items. Their tool not only ensures that you walk away with a complete, high quality bug out bag – but it also tracks the weight and volume of each item added. This way, before you checkout through Amazon you have the peace of mind knowing how much your bag will weigh, as well as knowing that all of your gear will fit into it.
Each piece of gear listed has been bought my Travis and the rest of the eBugout crew and tested. They have sifted through the garbage out there in the market for you. No one likes to buy crap to have it fail you. Some of you, like myself, love spending hours researching what gear to buy. We are the weirdoes though. Many people just want to have their bag and rest assured it will work for them when they need it.
Enjoy this show and let me know what you think in the comments!
Today I review After The Crumble. A new book review James? Yes finally. I was sent after the crumble in between a move or two. It got put on the back burner. Also I was a slow reader. I fixed that. I used this book to train on some speed reading techniques. Which will help me get these reviews out much faster.
“Our future has crumbled. In the late 2020s, the grid finally flickered out for the last time, succumbing to attacks from a newly formed Resistance, fuel scarcity, and general entropy.
It is now the year 2037 and many have died, with the few that managed to escape death solely concerned with their daily survival. Gavin Collier is one of those lucky few, but survival alone isn’t enough for him anymore.”
Today I have a guest post for you on bottled water. Many of us either drink or store bottled water. But how many even give it a second thought. Water is just water right? Well not exactly. The different typed of water all serve different roles. I like to drink a bottle of Perrier Lime water a day for the mineral content. Also It fills my need to have a carbonated beverage. Enjoy this read about the different kinds of bottled water -James
Bottled Water Overview
Americans alone consumed fifty-billion bottles of water last year. That’s a lot of water! With such a large industry there is bound to be a variety of products for sale.
When you go to the store and look at all the different kinds of bottled water, it can be confusing to know what the difference is. You may have questions like is one healthier than the other? Or you may even wonder, is there any difference between them all or is it just marketing?
Well it turns out that there really is a difference. While all bottled water is similar, different types come from different sources and may go through a different filtration process. Let’s take a look at some of the most common forms of bottled water and see how they differ from one another.
