I originally posted this a year ago and thought it was relevant again. The tax free weekend is especially timely for me since my laptop died recently and I decided to hold off for this weekend to save a few bucks.
Starting today and running through the weekend in many parts of the country is tax free weekend. It’s mostly for clothes, school supplies and some electronics. Although I don’t support blowing money on things you don’t need, but if you need to replace or upgrade now is the time.
Personally anytime I can get things cheaper and screw the government out of taxes is a great day. They steal enough of my money with taxes anyway. I only wish that the limitations would come off and it would truly be tax free on everything.
I sure for some this will be another reason to mindlessly spend money or credit on things they really don’t need. But it can also be a boon for preppers.I love any chance to save some money, I can’t help it I’m cheap. I’m going to use this as an opportunity to stock up on certain essentials. As far as I’m concerned you can never have too many socks or underwear. Those two items are ones I won’t buy second-hand like a lot of my clothes.
Tax free weekend is running during many stores big Back to School push with a lot of School/ office supplies on major discounts. I use a lot of composition note books throughout the year and always buy them at half off or more during BTS. Pen, pencils, folders and binders are important and worth getting a few of. You can get all the supplies you need to make really good bugout documents on sale and tax free right now. I like to use the zippered pencil pouches to hold cash in my Bug out Bags. Your you imagination and see what fits your plan that you can stock up on now.
If you’re a parent I’m sure you are already aware of this. It is pretty easy and cheap to stock up on a whole years worth of school supplies right now. I’ve seen loose leaf paper around ten cents.
In closing I urge you to buy something this weekend that’s tax free. Feel good that the guberment isn’t getting your money for at least one purchase. If you’re not in a place that has a tax free weekend go to a yard sale or Craigslist some human to human sale. The important part is not paying taxes. This weekend give the gov the middle finger. What are you planing on buying this weekend? Do you stock up during Back to School? Let me know in the comments.
