Paleo Meals To Go Savory Chicken & Vegetables

The great folks over at Paleo Meals to Go sent me out another meal for review. This time I got a chance to try their Paleo Meals To Go Savory Chicken & Vegetables. Once again they have hit a home run with this meal. If you follow a paleo way of  eating and love backpacking and hiking then keep on reading because you no longer have to compromise on eating healthy while being active.

The Ingredients

I always like to start any review of food with the ingredients. My core philosophy is to try to eat food with the fewest ingredients and pronounceable ingredients. If you look on the back of a mountain house meal you will see a litany of ingredients many of which I have no idea what they are. Of the ones that are pronounceable many of them are not paleo and as far as I’m concerned poison. I don’t want noodles and rice filers. I want good wholesome food and had to resort to making my own camping meals. That is until Paleo Meals To Go came around.  The ingredients in the Chicken meal are as follows: chicken, green peppers, onions, green onions, spinach, broccoli, asparagus, mushrooms, thyme, oregano, garlic, black pepper, and paprika. With a sea salt package included on the side.

The Taste

I usually like to eat things I’m reviewing slowly and take some notes while eating. I didn’t do that this time I took a bite then proceeded to inhale then entire package.  This meal was that tasty. All the flavors meshed really well together. I would highly recommend using the salt package, while tasty without it, the salt makes it pop.

Final Thoughts

I like that they finally added the nutritional data to the packages. I knew that the macro nutrients had to be in the ballpark of what I wanted. Unlike the mountain stew one I didn’t experience any gas issues with this one. I would still like to see some distributors get on board with these meals and through bulk pricing be able to sale at a lower price. Which was manly the one concern I heard from people on the last review. Personally paying $12 for a meal over $7 for one full of toxins in a no brainier for me. If a distributor could get them down to the $9 range though I think they would blow out. I’m also excited to see what new meas options come out in the future.
