In the Machine Till death
In the machine till death. That’s a phase Ive been thinking about a lot recently. You go to work and work your ass off till you die. Wasting the best years of your life slaving away to make someone else rich. And if your my age you will not see any social security. You’ll have to stay in the system till your old and beaten. Till you your soul-sick of the lifetime of slavery leaves you, That’s exactly why I don’t want. I’m make sure I’m always aware of that simple fact and make sure that I’m striving to gain my freedom from this matrix we are enslaved in. If you are fine with remaining enslaved no need to continue reading. If you however crave your freedom and independence take the red pill and join me
I feel a real pain when I see people trapped in the machine. People doing jobs they hate with no plan in freedom. You can see the burden on their soul slowly killing them. This has become intolerable to be and I have decided that I will from now on fight tooth and nail to wretch my freedom back from the slave masters of the corporate world. I’m still working on the details but the decision and conviction are the important part. Too much talk in the word. I think it’s better to Do and fail and keep doing that to over think and not take action. To quote Joel Salatin “If a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing poorly first. “.
The first action to gain freedom is to get rid of your debt. Debt traps you in the system. Without debt you remove you’re main need to make so much income. The more debt you acquire the longer you have to stay in the machine to pay it all back. Debt issues are the main reason that marriages today have such failure rates. The stress over making money to pay all the bills you’ve accumulated release a flood of nasty hormones that destroy your health. That’s why debt elimination is our first goal. Know your debt and make plans on when you will be rid of it. Find a way to get extra money to speed this up. The selling plasma trick from the Modern Hunter Gatherers article could provide you with $200 bucks a month to apply towards it.
The next step is to reduce reoccurring expenses. I got rid of thirty dollar a month cable tv I never watched to $9 a month Netflix streaming. I have more variety and can watch what I want when I want. The other source of video entertainment comes from YouTube subscriptions. Even more variety and not fees. I have an appletv that lets me watch it on my tv. Also try getting out and doing stuff. Hiking with friends costs nothing. Find free activities and get out the house.
Now that you have some free time try your hand at gardening. You can start small and work your way up. I live in a tiny apartment but this year will make my third year with raised bed gardens. This year I’ll be adding a third bed. I also grow lettuce in my window seal and herbs occasionally too. If your creative you can find ways to work with your available space. Being creative and doing it yourself is the way here at Survivalpunk. Growing your own salad greens could easily save you between $12-$24 a month. Possible even more since you’ll be eating the freshest organic salad you can get. I’m thinking about trying to use my tiny area outside my apartment to plan and build the tiniest food Forrest ever. Which will be documented here of course.
Now you have less to no bills. You’re growing your own food to supplement income. Whats the next step to freedom. Gaining time back. Spending less time working for someone else and more time working for your self. Not everyone wants to start a business nor should everyone. But with your new cheaper lifestyle you also can live happily working fewer hours. You can spend more time growing food, weather plants or meat production. Which will lead to needing ever less money. You can work on building alternative power solution to lessen your dependence on the power company and once again lessen your need for an income. So if you want to work for a company you can reduce the amount of hours needed to work to gain your freedom. Who would voluntarily decide to work 40 hours a week when you only need 20 to cover all your bills and live comfortably? I would make the switch in a second. True freedom though comes from working for yourself. You control the amount of work you do. It’s also the best way to be happy about what you do. Find your passion and get paid for it. Sounds better than flip burgers and be miserable right? In the past I’ve made small amounts of money doing various odd ventures. From selling signed comics on eBay for huge profits to selling Gatorade to my employees for slightly over cost. Small income but very satisfying. So search for what drives you in life and do it.
I’m working to get out of the machine, to steal my freedom. To have my small piece of nirvana in this world where I can eat food that I grew, To run power tools at 3 am without pissing off the neighbors and to shoot my guns in my yard in my underwear with my music blaring. That’s the dream at least. Find yours and take it.
