Today is a quick video for you guys. I did some testing of some new homesteading tools. Took a hike with Mike and his family on their property. I didn’t realize they had so much land. We had a great day in the woods. Getting Mike out from in front of the tv and his kids away from the computer and game system. None of them get out enough. I’m determined to get Couch Potato Mike fit. Let me tell you a bit about what we did
A Day In The Woods
I originally just planed on doing some light testing of the Fiskars Splitting Axe and saw I bought. Then I remembered the lifestraw in my car. This then led to taking a walk through the tails. Which turned into a day in the woods. I had no idea the land Mike lives on is 28 acres. I knew he had a 5 ish acre area. Most of the land is overgrown woodlands. I tried to explain proper land management and how productive it could be. Their family likes it being left to the animals. I can see that in a way. I also know how we can give mother nature a hand. On the hike we found a nice spot beneath some pine trees that was significantly cooler than the outside. I did not see any wild edibles besides sumac.
