Conflicted The Game: The Survival Card Game

Maybe I’m a bit late to the table with this review. Conflicted the game has swept through the survival community. For good reason too. I have tested the game out a few times now. I needed to see what all this hype is about. Why is every podcast about survival playing it? Myself included stay tuned. Unless you’ve been living under a rock I’m sure you have heard of this game. Today I’ll share my thoughts on it. What do I like about conflicted the game. What I don’t like about it and how I think it should be used.

Conflicted The Game

What is Conflicted the game? It’s a card game that explores morals and philosophies. The premise behind the game is that The Shit Has Hit The Fan. We are now living in a total societal collapse. It’s a James Wesley Rawles wet dream here. You are the leader of a prepper group Your decisions impact the lives of all in your group. Their lives are in your hands. The game puts your morals to the test. How far does your survival instinct go? What are you willing to do to ensure your safety? Do you put yourself above others or do you sacrifice yourself?

To play Conflicted the game you need at least three people. You draw cards and read the scenario on it. Each person answer the card. You discuss with each other and decide a winner of the card. At the end the player with the most cards wins. You get to decide how many rounds to play before picking a winner.

What I Like

I like a lot about Conflicted the game. I love that it involves serious thought. Some of the situations you face live up to the namesake. It reminds me of the what if games I play with friends. For years I’ve played mental exercises with my friends. If this happens what would you do. I remember the old apocalypse mental scenarios we made up. All terrible and unrealistic. The scenarios in conflicted are very realistic. Frighteningly realistic. Many I see as common occurrences in a collapse. It is a fun game and easy way to loose time. I have to watch the clock when we were playing a game on the podcast.

Things I don’t like

You can’t like everything and Conflicted the game has a few. The game awards points based on who get’s voted to have the best answer. Heres a problem we had playing the game. Most times everyone votes for himself. Obviously you think your answer is the best. A few times just to break the tie one of us would just change our vote. I think a new rule I will incorporate will be no voting for yourself. That should fix that right away. I guess the lack of rules by the makers is on purpose. We are learning to work together to pick a winner.

Another rule we created to avoid issues was that one a few cards. On times we all had similar answers we awarded the point to the first person that gave their answer. Once again Conflicted the game does not have a rule on tie breakers. I’ve been changing Monopoly rules for 25 years though. I have no problem making up my own rules.

Uses

You can play conflicted for simple entertainment. You won’t regret that. I had a blast playing with Mike ad his wife. I played with a lady I had over for dinner recently. She is not a prepper but really thought and had some good answers. She came at things in a way I would have never thought. Conflicted the game is versatile though.

Not only can you use it for fun but as a moral test. If you are meeting new preppers you can play with them. See how closely their morals line up with yours. Learning that a possible member of your survival group is all about eating babies during the collapse would be nice to know. You can gauge their knowledge and reaction to situations. The downside being in a game you can say something that in real life would be much harder.

Lastly I think conflicted the game is a great way to introduce these concepts to non preppers. Getting sheeple to think about these situations is great. You are not bashing them with your crazy ideas. They are presented with scenarios and have to think of a solution. Hell I would be inclined to tip my voted to them to build up their interest. Everyone likes hearing their ideas are good. Once they start thinking though the seed is planted. No forcing or yelling just plain fun.
